OVERALL OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT:

To develop and deploy Artificial Intelligence to improve the productivity and yield of Nsukka Yellow Pepper [NYP] by strengthening the resilience of farmers in adapting to climate change, applying mitigation strategies, and thus empowering the women and youths.

 

EXPECTED PROJECT OUTPUTS

- An Indigenous data sets on NYP for Machine Learning

- An (IoT) based smart pests and disease detection and communication system developed

- An AI-based irrigation control system developed with a soil moisture sensor

- An AI-based Application for extension service and marketing developed

 

EXPECTED PROJECT OUTCOMES

- Responsible tools for enhanced production, management, and marketing of NYP that is a scalable

- Increased awareness of the use of AI in increasing food production, distribution and management.

- Women and youths empowered to use modern and innovative extension services and marketing tools.

- A triple helix synergy formed between government, industry and private sector for increased support and buy-in of research output.
